Two posts for today and yesterday which I missed.
It's Kanye West's birthday today. He peaked too soon with this. The rest went downhill.
Staying on an RnB vibe (which wont happen often). A tune from a new artist to my radar. The Weeknd. This is the stand out track from what I've heard. Enjoy.

Fancy synth work
Chromeo were first brought to my attention by a remix of their tune 'Fancy Footwork', by The Crookers. At the time I ignored their original. This was clearly a big mistake.
The two guys that makes up Chromeo are a massive fan of their retro synth, drums machines and samplers. Their release featuring Ellie Jackson, 'Hot Mess', from their new album 'Business Casual', has catapulted them into the mainstream. My track of the Day is 'Needy Girl' from their first album 'She's in control'. Enjoy the funk.

Weekend wonders Part 2
I went to a record sale yesterday with the purpose of buying some vinyl based on the best artwork possible for the cheapest price. When I asked the sellers of vinyl whether they have either some decks, a record player or even a gramophone on which to listen to what I was buying. They looked at me bemused like listening to what you were buying was unheard of!
Well regardless, for 50p I bought 'Junie Morrison - Techno-Freqs'.
It's some kind of funk disco not quite techno. Pretty cool for the price of a Mars Bar.

Two Posts today as I missed yesterday (great start I know).
The first Friendly Fires album was stuck on repeat on my iPod for many months, I even saw them live 3 times in 2009 and again at Glastonbury last year. What I really like about FF is that they are band who draw massive influences from Dance music, and particularly the Balearic sounds of Ibiza. A comparison that has been made many times and no doubt will continue to be made.
When an album like theirs has such a massive impact on me, with standout tracks such as 'Jump in the Pool', 'Skeleton Boy' and of course the anthem of 2009 that was 'Paris', I find it quite difficult to accept that a 2nd album could ever live up to its predecessor. Pala does that. With the opening track 'Live those days tonight' showing that the band are back, having developed their sound into an Indie-Dance Genre that will surely lead them to greatness. My track I have chosen to share is 'Blue Casette', with it's massive vocals, Tropical like drums and now an even higher standard of Production. This track fits the summer months perfectly. The Friendly Fires are back. Something I'm pretty happy about!

Summer Vibes from the new Queen of House

Maya Jane Coles is now no longer a name that needs any introduction, since her scene defining 'What They Say', took her from the underground to the very forefront of deep tech house music, and even still the cover of MixMag.
Her latest release, 'Focus Now' EP, released via 2020 Vision, is a 24 minute delight filled with percussive beats, soft vocals, elegant basslines & mind controlling melodies, which will have you dancing right through these sunny months.
Keep an eye on the new 'Queen of House'. Major playlisters will be swooning over her music before too long.
